June 30, 2023 - Such a beautiful, balanced, poised auslese. Old school in weight and balance. Loved it. They don't make them like this anymore

December 13, 2020 - PnP. Hasn't changed much since the last bottle 4 years ago. Still med straw in color with pineapples and petrol since dominant. Honey notes still present, but citrus is now more lemon than grapefruit. Thoroughly enjoyable with great balance between acidity and sweetness.

Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glass at 45F.

August 31, 2017 - Utterly delicious on the first night (see my earlier note). Not as expressive on the second night.

December 25, 2016 - PnP. Light-Med straw in color. Pineapples and petrol on the nose. Honey, slate, and citrus (grapefruit) on the palate. Great acidity offsets the mild sweetness nicely, leaving a juicy finish that begs for another sip. Clean & focused with a light-med body.

Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glass at 45F.

April 30, 2016 - PnP. Enjoyed during an Indian-themed dinner party. No formal notes. Went well with a variety of dishes, but not as well as the Lumen Rose we had.

Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glass at 50F.

November 4, 2015 - A big whiff of sulphur to the aroma. Loaded with powdered lime. Good detail and precision. Doesn't appear overly sweet as the whippy acidity underpins all of the more luscious elements. Needs a couple of years to unfurl.

October 10, 2015 - Just as delicious as my last note indicates if not better! This is just pure yumminess

February 13, 2015 - Super delicious auslese. Given the producer I was surprised how easy drinking and friendly this is at this early stage. A lot of linden and other white flowers on the nose. Citrus driven palate - mostly grapefruit. Good upfront sweetness which perfectly pairs with the typical Falkenstein minerality. Love the energy and length of the finish. At under $25, this is a screaming buy! 93++

January 31, 2015 - Mrs Knurd was wanting a Riesling so I popped my last bottle of this in hopes that I could get some closure between my 2 previous reviews of this wine, the A- or the B-. Looks like the latter is winning out as the harsh grapefruit acidity was still very much present on the back end as well as the slightly cloying residual sugar notes. Both out of balance IMHO so the B- is fitting. Even tried a quick decant, which brought out the light frizzante bubbles, but if it was any less harsh than before my palate didn't seem to notice. Referencing the pro-reviewers, I think Gilman is more in line with the wine and vintage than the review from Jean & David.

    Overall: B-

January 13, 2015 - MSO wine club - January 2015 (Alex's House): Delicious. Great balance of sweet fruit and tart lazer-like acidic finish. This went down fast.
