January 10, 2024 - Wendouree survey (Chicago, IL): Others at the table liked this more than I did, relative to the 2018. I found this a little less aromatically expressive, and there were some pretty brutish tannins here. This had a fairly dark profile, but the palate also just wasn't quite as expressive. Likely better with more time.

February 5, 2022 - Very solid showing, lovely fresh juicy dark fruit with a clean finish. Some complexity . Best after 2.( hours, then it really sang

April 11, 2020 - This vies for the honour of not only the best Wendouree Shiraz, but one of the best New World wines I’ve tasted. Inexplicably I didn’t take notes. But it’s imprinted on my mind.

Stupendous complexity. Multi-layered. And similar to the 2012 Shiraz Malbec tasted last year, an uber-long finish that resonates with dark fruit, savouriness, minerality and fresh acidity. For the first time in a Wendouree, charcuterie and hung meat too, supporting the Rhone analogy in the previous TN.

It did make me think of Chave Hermitage and how it would compare alongside it, latter day la Chappelles too. Easy to see why Halliday gave it six stars out of five. Ages ahead but if you have a few in your cellar, worth sampling one now.

February 2, 2016 - Medium to dark red. Bright focused palate, red fruited and spicy pure Rhone style Syrah with subtle spicy oak. Elegant and balanced with fine grained tannins and a long, soft finish.
Such a pure and elegant expression of Aussie shiraz.

August 1, 2014 - Casual wines with Pizza: Mineral, chocolate, white pepper, stems, raw sugar and plenty of cassis to it - with time it became more spicy but the initial elements always remained. There is good fruit depth on the palate, the tannins and acid give it good structure but it remains reasonably approachable. Give it time to develop further if possible.
