December 25, 2019 - I gave this a good 2 hour plus decant last night pouring it through a decanting funnel keeping the sediment out. The color of this wine was a very warm pale ruby with only the slightest hint of browning around the rim. The nose of this wine had a lot going on, with ash,wet earth, wet stones, camphor, dried berry, cocoa, dried blackberries and dried Maraschino cherries. On the palate damp earth with loam and some pumice followed by more blackberries, dried cherries and black currants. Loads of dried fruits on the finish with blackberries, black cherry, black currants, aged tobacco leaf, and damp earth. This wine was very mature and drinking perfectly with loads of secondary characteristics. I had it with KC strip steak. Purchased for $195 back while I was owner of Anton’s Vintage Wine in 2005. 92+ Points.

September 1, 2019 - From a bottle purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this wine was double-decanted, allowing approximately two hours in decanter prior to funneling back into the cleaned bottle. It was then taken to a walk-around wine and food party, where it was serially sampled over an additional two hours. Medium garnet in color, it retains a generous core of red and black currant fruit, accented with notes of allspice, truffle, cocoa, leather and damp earth. Medium-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (13%) and with fresh acidity, it stays dense on the mid-palate. The residual tannins at this point are light and silky-smooth, making the wine very easy to drink. Finishing with impressive length, this is an outstanding Ducru that is in its sweet spot. Well-cellared bottles should remain on plateau for at least another 6-7 years. Drink now-2026.

June 22, 2019 - Tasted blind. In comparing my previous notes this was the best bottle. Incredibly dense and fruit-laden wine, tons of blackcurrant, bacon. Very approachable now.

April 22, 2019 - Tasted blind. Ripe plums, blackcurrant fruit. Ripe and soft, some fennel and herbal notes, but very soft tannins. I was very surprised to find out this is a Ducru. Fully resolved.
