July 12, 2019 - Two bottles in 10 days. The first one was a bit floppy and on the edge of decline (88 Points). The second one had more spine, fruit and length, and had somehow unevolved potential. It showed pretty nice on day two in a rather classic claret style. A 89-90 score.
How ever 2003 wasn´t a real success for Chat. Lagrange like for many others in this hot year.
Drink up during the coming 3-4 years. Bottle Variation will increase.

June 22, 2019 - Consistent with recent notes in the 88-90 range, classic claret, pleasant and straightforward, fruit/acid felt a bit muted and finished short, fair amount of sediment filtered out but seriously doubt holding more than a couple more years improves this.

May 6, 2019 - Crimson in color. 14% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red and black fruits, leather and cigar box. Plush and full bodied. Fruit forward with light, silky tannins. Currants, cassis, black licorice, plums and earth on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Perhaps a little atypical due to the vintage but absolutely delicious Bordeaux nonetheless. I suspect this will drink well to twenty years of age.

April 24, 2019 - Muted on the nose. Soft tannins, fully resolved. Cranberry. Full but a little drying on end. A good, aged, one-dimensional bordeaux from a difficult year. Drink up over next few months.

(Chateau Lagrange St Julien) Since my last tasting of this when the wine seemed very unusual, at the UGC tasting in October 2005, I have been eager to try it again. Today, this seems like a different wine. On the nose it has a wealth of deep fruit, with quite an exotic perfume and it is very attractive. I find it difficult to believe that this is the same wine that I tasted last year. Good style on the palate too, very nicely composed, although with the huge grip of tannins typical of the vintage. But there is decent acidity too, and on the basis of this bottle this seems to have a very good potential, but as always I damp down my score...I am still worried that the tannins will outlast the fruit in this vintage. But the big question with this wine is what was going on in 2005? And what will the next bottle taste like?

(Chateau Lagrange St Julien) Whoa! An unusual nose here; confected, cola-aniseed-cherry nose with a lifted, estery nature. Rather light on entry, but picks up through the midpalate, with some rounded morello cherry fruit and firm tannin. Little in the way of presence or texture, and incongruous acidity. What's gone wrong here? One to avoid.
