  November 25, 2023 - Kraters for the trenchermen (Les 2 Garçons): Second time trying this in a couple of weeks, and actually showed somewhat differently on this occasion, this bottle being far crisper, with the dosage and its attendant brioche and lemon curd notes not at all obvious. Bright and refreshing rather than shrill, in its drinking window but still seeming pretty youthful, the major notes being of lemon and smoke. Excellent aperitif style.

  November 14, 2023 - 67PM with Roger + friends (67 Pall Mall): Certainly a classic Grand Marque BdB: rounded and on the sweeter side, notes of brioche slathered in lemon curd, sophisticated and pure without being at all demanding. Too much dosage to make a good accompaniment to most food, but a lovely glass to get things started.

  November 10, 2023 - Po-yu's 2012/13 Grower Champagne and Friends (Phoenix Palace London): Served at a good temperature - not too cold. Seemed to have a bit of a dirty smell at first but that disappeared, and none of my fellow diners reported it, so possibly something in the glass. Compared to previous bottles, a bit more sherbet perhaps, a hint of marmalade, this is a magic wine.

  July 21, 2023 - Hampshire N Rhone Feast (Chesil Rectory): Warmer than I’ve tasted it before. Not sure if it’s because of that but also the best of the three of these I’ve tasted. Complete, lacy, delicate. A kind of chalky dry finish. This was great wine - up there with the 99 dumien serrette for wotn.

  May 21, 2023 - Double birthday dinner with friends (Hawthorn): Chalky, fresh with lightness and also intensity. Some notes talk about how "grower" this is - I disagree but I get it, there's a purity and verve to this. Enjoyed this even more than the bottle at Christmas Wimps last year. I'm sure it has time ahead of it but this is just lovely now.
