March 18, 2024 - Stored in a cold cellar since release. Cork broke but no leakage. Subdued bouquet. Light good balance with just about sufficient length. Clearly not a great vintage. No spirit showing through. Drink very soon.

March 14, 2024 - Opened with port tongs and decanted 4 hours before first drinking. Good at that time but improved much with further breathing. Best sip was the last, a week after opening.
Taste is superb, the best thing about this wine. Mouth feel is a bit thin. Not tremendously complex, but has an elegant balance of fruit, sweetness (on the low side), and aged-port character.1 person found this helpful Comment -

February 28, 2024 - A subtly tainted cork--the sort where you suspect cork taint from the start, but keep hoping you're wrong and that the wine will improve with more air. Eventually you're forced to admit to yourself that you were right from the start, even though you didn't want to be. Alas. Then down the sink.

February 25, 2024 - From a 750, showing well and drinking surprisingly young - not ultra complex for the age though

February 18, 2024 - Even though this is from a 375mL, my bottle seems to be drinking younger than other descriptions here. Color is pale, but not browning. Nose is surprisingly fresh Christmas cake, red prunes, cranberry sauce, cherry syrup, loganberry preserves, cinnamon, cloves. Very nice. The body is quite in the mouth and tannins are pretty much gone (this speaks to age perhaps). But the flavors are quite fruity, almost like a fruit punch, with some baking spices thrown in. The whole thing finishes quite sweet with some alcohol hotness that I could do without. The wine is very pleasant, but not quite the complexity that I would have hoped for with 40 yrs of age.
