July 27, 2021 - The last bottle from my case. Still a charmer, though it has dropped much of concentration over the past 40 years, there was more than enough gas in the tank to make it interesting. Medium-bodied, soft, elegant, silky and fresh, the spicy, bright red fruits, pepper, herbs and flowers showed well on the nose and stayed with you through the finish. No decanted needed, as this slowly fading. If you have a bottle, drink up sooner than later.

July 8, 2021 - I was worried this would be dead, but in a word it was GLORIOUS! Initially oxidative on the nose , this has a deep, powerful, dark and medicinal palate. The level of structure still in this wine is shocking. Powerful, STILL tannic, dark and brooding. Olive, blood and spice. Really quite lovely. Fantastic!

June 2, 2021 - Pale garnet. Pronounced aromas of redcurrants, dried plums, cigar smoke, roses, complex and ever changing. Pronounced fruit on the palate with delicate firm remains of acid and tannin, the latter smooth as silk. The fruit is both intense and weightless, all elements integrated, a seamless blend of flavors, moist tobacco, fruit compote, floral essence that is hard to disassemble. Also a saline olive note. 13.6%

April 10, 2021 - From magnum; this was markedly better than a 750ml last year; the nose started smoky and savory, but opened with air to show more dried currant, cherry, damp earth, some mushroom, and leather. The palate was truly remarkable, silky and yet very fresh considering the age with a mid palate sweetness and concentration that was incredible. Best Chateauneuf I've ever consumed.

March 27, 2021 - Still drinking nicely. Ripe strawberry fruit, some cedar and tar. Nice acid and medium tannin helping it with age.
