January 6, 2024 - This was a brilliant wine. Pretty light colored with moderate browning. Nose was all sweet red fruits, earth, some light oxidative sherry notes, a hint of green notes, a touch of heat, but it wasnt that distracting. very light bodied, sweet gordeaous red fruits, date-like fruit, some light earthy/loam, leather, warm spices (ground coriander seed?), light drying tannins, really elegant and really in my wheelhouse. Also a really nice finish. Wish I could find more of these of any vintage in the US.

October 28, 2023 - Opened one hour in advance. Complex aroma of earth, leather, and a bit of boysenberry fruit. Smooth but rustic flavors of cherry, leather, mushrooms up front, Cherry fruit dominates the pleasantly bitter finish. To echo others, Wow! This is incredible. Alice describes it as like a mountain nebbiolo. I'll go with that, it's as good a description as any.

I doubt this is going anywhere better, so drink up.

September 14, 2022 - Oh my god. Glowing garnet, close to perfect wine. Heady rose and lilac and ginger. high acidity and fine tannins that still trace their firmness. Blood Orange and brown bread, scorched earth and perfume. It’s like perfected Barolo, and with a Japanese meal it goes so well with pickled ginger and fatty chūtoro

January 29, 2022 - I agree with comments by FAT.METHENY and SARED, and that would also be my assessment. Adding this note here to point out that this wine is still holding up but has not evolved much over the last 3 years, and hence it is probably at peak. I am going to be pulling all of my remaining bottles from storage for consumption. This one had a good run.

May 22, 2019 - Medium ruby towards orange with brick rim. Intoxicating aromas of dried cranberries, dried thyme, dried rosepetals, some light porcini, turmeric (!) and 5 spice. In the mouth it is very balanced with long finish. I could wait 5 more years for it to be perfect (97-98). No oxidation AT ALL. What a wine, if you are lucky to find one from good source try it, Economou has a vibe you cannot find in another producer.

September 16, 2017 - Beautiful boutique of earth, clay and dried rose petals. Very smooth. Very earthy wine but you can taste dried red fruit that makes for an excellent balanced wine. Leans towards dried herbs. Phenomenal QPR.

August 31, 2017 - As per previous note 9/6/17. Perfect cork. 4 bottles consumed so far have all been wonderfully consistent, faultless, balanced and complex. Has got some years ahead of it yet.

August 9, 2017 - Perfect cork yet again.

Ruby translucent core with a slight brick tint towards the rim. Wonderful tertiary notes developing - sous bois, a bit of manure, plum, earth. Medium bodied, silky whispy texture, ripe strawberry, dried herbs, minerals; subtle acidity, finishing with very fine filigreed tannins. Just so well balanced and elegant.

June 9, 2017 - Wowee! Tasted at 16 degrees. As per Sitia appellation requirements, this liatiko blend has some mandilaria added to it (around 20%). Mandilaria is a thick-skinned varietal that adds colour and tannins.

Perfect cork, no seepage at all. Tawny, starting to brick, although believe that liatiko loses its red robe very early. This is a dead ringer for a great mature Gevrey. Touch below medium body. Has starting developing tertiary characters, haunting Sous bois, ripe strawberry and earth aromatics, similar notes on entry which transition into finely balanced acidity and fine grippy tannins, good length. Wonderful, think this will go some distance yet and further evolve into all sorts of goodness.
