May 7, 2024 - We may have had a weird bottle because despite being open 3 months this didn't show too much

April 21, 2024 - Ye Olde Riesling Dinner (SDK - Castro): A less intense, less complex, less interesting version of the Fass Severin. Petrol on the nose, still decent acidity, but kind of bruised apple and bland on the palate. The person who brought it thought it was oxidized, and generally less good, than his other bottles. Oh well.

April 21, 2024 - Sadly a bit advanced / oxidized and not as good and fresh as previous bottles. Still drinkable and even enjoyable, just not what it should have been.

April 21, 2024 - Ye Olde Rieslings: Sadly, a bit oxidized. Bruised apple on the nose, more pronounced on the palate. A couple shades darker than the Fass Severin. Not undrinkable, but clearly not a representative bottle.

March 31, 2024 - Second time having this in a couple weeks and very consistent bottles. These are in the window and are great now but no rush. Medium yellow color but the wine is very fresh.

December 16, 2023 - One of those wines that felt more interesting than pleasurable at points - I was surprised at how oxidative this showed, with some of the savoury/slightly nutty elements I'd expect in a Jura white or a Savennieres, rather than a Riesling. There's still plenty of ripe white fruit at its core and a mineral base underneath, though the oxidative elements felt a bit distracting. Will be curious to see how leftovers develop.

April 14, 2023 - Bad bottle. A bit too advanced. Disappointing without being flawed.

April 2, 2023 - My last bottle… sad to say it’s gone but what an awesome drinking experience and all 3 bottles have Ben consistent. Drank this one over 4 days and it was as fresh on day 1 as on day 4. Dark golden color with a deep honeyed jasmine nose that hints at the layers and body of the wine. Tart apple with a honeyed touch that reminds me of a similar taste that I’ve had with a deposed substance but this has a persistence on the palate without the bubbles. It has a full body on the palate that finishes every time with an almost matchstick acidity. Can’t get enough of this and it was a sad moment when I had my last sip. If anyone has any they no longer want to drink please let me know!

August 16, 2022 - Gorgeous nose with notes of smoke, peach, citrus, ginger, floral notes, and orange peel. Nice acidity with more peach, stone fruit, a bit of pear, and saline notes on the palate. The palate seems a bit richer and riper than the nose, but it's perfectly balanced. Long finish. Very complex, outstanding wine! This was nothing like a bottle opened about 2 years ago, which was good, but in retrospect probably off.

August 6, 2022 - Similar to, yet somehow so much better than, my last bottle. Gentle, complex aromas of flowers (buddleia - ha, just kidding, I wouldn't know buddleia if it was stuck up my nose), white stone fruits, nuts, honey and smoke, all drifting out of the glass. The botrytis elements were more obvious this time. Dense, slightly oily texture, firmed up with acid, but giving the ultimate impression of silky, caressing smoothness. Finishes long. The bare description does not do it justice. This had the "je ne sais quoi" the prior bottle lacked. This had it all going on. This was a wine to savor and think well of life and all the gifts it brings.
