January 20, 2024 - Deep garnet with some bricking in color. Nose of dark stewed cherries, meaty umami, savory spices, a dash of black pepper, and a bit of black tea. Medium-light bodied, just the right amount of acid, and easy drinking. Palate of dark cherries, strawberries, earth, cocoa, spices, and tea. Flows smoothly into the finish with just a bit of tannins providing a velvet-like texture. Moderate length finish of cocoa, tea, dark violet, berry skins, and dusty minerals.

    Very enjoyable and approachable.

June 20, 2021 - On PnP, this was all funk. It needed 90+ minutes for some balance and fruit to enter the picture. What evolved was a nice wine that had a mix of fruit and savory, earthy components. That said, it wasn’t what is was a few years ago. On the way down or in a transition phase? That is the question.

June 15, 2021 - A fun field blend where everything but the kitchen sink seems to be in here…mostly zin, with 6-7 lesser known varietals. A bit funky upon opening (pop and pour), this opened to reveal a brambly, tobacco leaf, weightless yet jammy profile. Soft and supple mixed fruits aromatically (mostly red and black fruits), with some added woody notes (more earthy than oak driven). The mid palate here reminds you this is zin to its core with plenty of black cherry compote and then the vibrant acidity driven finish sports some black pepper and spicy rhubarb. Mostly integrated at this point, I think this is at its apex.

January 22, 2021 - Brambly blackberry and red fruit. Tea, earth, bacon fat, herb, coconut, and vanilla. Med + acid, high alcohol without being hot, med+ tannin. Lush and well-balanced wine.

December 6, 2020 - Rich and peppery, with blackberry, plum and cassis fruit with a flowery flourish. Spicy black pepper finish with kirsch and anise. Drink or hold a bit, but probably at its peak now.
