February 28, 2024 - Book Club - Brig's Wines (Foretti's): Right off the bat I thought this wine had terrific balance of fruit and acidity. Tannins are fairly well resolved but they're still a little prickle in the back of your throat. It's a fairly rich fruit profile, mostly a red currant and dark blackberry. Touch of licorice on the back end. Medium plus weight. Very good

February 28, 2024 - Bookclub (served blind)--Brig (Foretti's in Corona Del Mar): Tasted alongside the 2013 Carlisle Bedrock Zin, which was a fun blind juxtaposition. And damn it, I put both of these wines on syrah, proving again the humility of blind tasting. Why did I sense syrah? When these two wine were poured and we did the side-by-side, I could swear I smelled violets and blood, which to me was indicative of some whole cluster style. In the comparison of the two wines and the intuitive theme Brig assembled, I will write the notes together here for both bottles. I found the Bedrock to be richer, darker, the oak style of dark chocolate and brewed coffee. In contrast, the Carlisle Bedrock was juicier, with a weight imprint that seemed lighter, although the Carlisle did fatten more with air and was closer in weight with the Bedrock in time with some milk chocolate. Both wines exhibited an infused rosemary/garrigue (again, part of my syrah guess for both). The Bedrock seemed to have just a bit more complexity, despite the weight, with dark licorice and charcoal. Overall, I really dug the juxtaposition of these two wines, thank you, Brig.

April 14, 2023 - Wine seems really advanced for its age, but it drank really well. Tannins fully resolved. Soft red zin fruits with balanced acidity. Some secondary savory notes. Ordinarily, 10 years old is still young for a zin, but if I had more bottles I probably wouldn't hold on to them for many more years.

October 11, 2022 - *this is not a TN but a response to the previous taster 'KungFuBaby' because he/she does not accept comments. There is ZERO chance that this wine is past its prime. Its a 2013 and its from Carlisle Vineyard. If anything, it's barely hit it's very early drinking window. Word to the wise.....never trust a TN from someone who does not accept comments ;)

February 5, 2022 - More proof that the 2013's are really starting to come around. Just beautiful deep, almost savory zin fruit with the complexity (and deliciousness) that you expect from the Carlisle Vineyard....and of course Morgan's winemaking. Just great juice that is drinking really well with just a little bit of air, but with plenty of gas in the tank. Cheers!

January 11, 2021 - Solid, as all Bedrock wines are. Admittedly, my style preference has moved in another direction, so this is not really in my wheelhouse anymore. Savory loam, thyme/sage on the nose, with ripe concord grape and blackberry aromas. Big and round, but juicy and bright, with a bit of a mineral edge on the finish. Compared to the Carlisle wines from this vineyard, Morgan's are a bit more restrained, and also more to my liking.
