October 13, 2019 - Dark purplish ruby red. Insanely dark nose with black cherries, plums, aniseed and violets. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) with a medium plus body. Layered palate with bitter cocoa, black bramble berries, earthiness and dark spices. Long finish. Drink till 2025.

November 15, 2018 - Drank on Thanksgiving day with turkey and the usual sides. It was not a good match. It started out quit tight even though we decanted it for about an hour. It took a while to open and by then the feast was nearly over. I should have know better. This is not to say that it didn't get consumed, but it wasn't at its best.

November 14, 2018 - I’m really loving this wine tonight - so much character and depth.

Balance of 1) dry (zero sweetness) but big fruit - hard to describe - but dark, deep fruit notes that don’t cloy at all, 2) light dusting of spices - allspice, even some cinnamon, 3) full but definitely not thick mouthfeel, significant tannin... It’s all well balanced and I’m imagining a wine I’ll enjoy more in 10 years.

I love it when a wine with a great story follows through. If I’m remembering right, this was part of the original HW Crabbe To Kalon plot, this specific parcel was basically forgotten and so rather than being ripped out years ago for prohibition and then replanted to cab in the 60’s, these vines have survived in a form that resembles the original vineyard. And, appropriate to the context, this wine tastes quite a bit different from anything else I can recall. Love it.

April 10, 2018 - Seriously wonderful wine. Great purity and fullness in the mouth. Nice rich sweet bouquet. Lots of red and dark red fruits that delight like no other Bedrock field blend wine. There seems to be lots of life in this one.

November 18, 2017 - lots of red berry fruit, but surprising depth here. oak is prominent. great smoke and meat notes intermingle with light floral notes to add complexity.
