May 2, 2019 - Maybe a bad bottle but losing fruit badly. Wine is very one dimensional. Incredible what a year makes. The 2013 is amazing and blows this away. Fortunately I just bought one bottle. A 2012 Donelan Syrah shouldn’t be losing fruit like this so I’m chalking this up to a somewhat flawed bottle. Just had a 2012 Donelan Kobler and it was much better. Take this review with a grain of salt.

My, my, is this a beauty! Black olive, black cherry, just...black. Impenetrable liquid with a viscous mouthfeel. Nose of herbs as well...rosemary? Acids cut through food with aplomb here. Finish is 30+, with flavors of raspberry/cherry, again.
Alcohol in check, but won't be drinking the whole bottle tonight! Drink or hold for more upfront texture and fruit.1 person found this helpful Comment
