February 1, 2024 - Based on our previous TN we decided to open our last bottle of this wine and to decant it to separate from the sediment. Our drinking experience was almost identical to that previous bottle with lots of dark fruit, earth and spice. The tannins were integrated but the acidity was more aggressive than needed to balance, so drink up.
January 21, 2024 - PnP, but better after about 20 minutes of air, and with some sediment. The color was a deep purple to a faded rim. Lots of dark fruit and earth notes on the nose. The medium to plus palate showed the black fruit, some dark red fruit, spice, earth and a touch of cocoa. All tannins were integrated, but the acidity was a bit aggressive moving me to suggest drinking up this vintage.
December 8, 2020 - Heavy, oaky, dark fruit dominant, and full-bodied. More complexity on Night 2; upgraded rating from 90 to 92.
February 23, 2020 - Very good. Tasted like a much younger wine.
August 11, 2018 - huge and awesome
May 30, 2017 - PNP, drank over 2 nights. Opening aromatics were a bit bretty. Vigorous swirling dissipated that, but didn't entirely eliminate it. That HS characteristic rich red fruit was definitely there, along with meaty notes. Same profile on the palate. The nose was distracting on this one.
January 28, 2017 - Crowd pleaser. Felt the oak and vanilla overpowered the fruit a bit, but overall a nice drink.
January 6, 2017 - Decanted 2 hrs. Medium body. Nice consistent smooth tastes of dark fruits & dark cherry. Glad we let it age a little.
October 2, 2016 - Nice Syrah. Still has a lot of life ahead of it.
April 27, 2016 - Has the chops for something special, but still needs some time to settle down more.
