April 2, 2024 - Each time I taste this wine, I am convinced I will never have it again, yet, here we are. Served blind, I thought it was 1961 Latour. But, this was even better! The incredible nose, with its mint, cedar, tobacco, barbecue, smoked meat, herbs, spices, pepper and black cherries was off the hook! The palate experience was even better with its wall of firm, smoky cherries, spice, herbs, and peppery mint. Crisp, intense, long, seamless, and complex, the wine exceeds the 60-second mark, and just keeps on going! What a wine. Drink from 2024-2060.

September 11, 2022 - 200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Pirate bottle, during the encore. Lots of structure, farmyard funk at the beginning, like the best Burgs we had today but with more density, deeper color, so it must be Rhone North. Acidity and freshness here is top as well. No sign of oxidation. Another wow wine in this encore.

March 26, 2022 - This wine had a deep red center with oranging rims. The high intensity nose blasted mocha, roasted meat, minerals, plums, and Provençal herbs. As with so many great wines, the flavors were ever-changing.
In the mouth, this was rich and ripe with great acidity and huge length. It was amazingly complex. There was a touch of dryness for the first couple hours but that faded into gorgeous, plump fruit. It also developed a hint of truffle.
This was an outstanding wine that will last for at least a decade. -

December 8, 2021 - Of all the wines I never thought I would taste again, this was at the top of the list. Almost 13 years later, my second time with this legend took place. Served blind, I was sure it was a mature First Growth Pauillac. It had all the tobacco, cedar, cigar box, cedar, iron, currants, plums, smoke, rocks, and stones you could want in a wine. Perhaps, not quite as virulent as the previous bottle, but still majestic, the wine is full-bodied, deep, multi-layered, and multi-faceted, with a spicy, salty, smoky, currant, and peppery herb finish. Maybe I'll get lucky and see this again if I can wait another 13 years?

August 12, 2017 - Waves of delicate spice on the nose with dusty soil notes. Good dark fruit, rocks and soil on the palate. Nose better than the palate on this bottle, with the latter lacking a degree of elegance and cohesion that the best bottles can have. 98+
