Community Tasting Notes 8

August 6, 2021 - Tasting pour. In the decanter for 4 hours before we got to try. More secondary than any of the wines we tried, but still pretty young on the nose with black pepper, leather, pure red fruit and bacon fat. Some heat on the nose and palate, but it works well. That being said, attenuated tannin and a touch pruny on the mid. Smells young, but a touch flabby on the mid and finish.

July 3, 2018 - Long term ager. Will go 10-15 years from here. Lovely and drinkable, but lay these down for a future time.

October 16, 2017 - Just beginning to loosen up its kimono and show its stuff, this fantastic vineyard in the hands of a master Syrah winemaking team is likely the best of the breed in 2012. Really intense and inky black-purple, rich aromas and palate deliver a memorable mélange of black plum, sweet prune notes, some Allspice and a touch of pink Bubble Gum on the finish. A rock star with a rack of lamb, and we still remember the remarkable finish. Blockbuster.

May 8, 2017 - Wow, this is seriously good. It’s almost tastes zin-like, it’s got a distinct blueberry taste along with blackberry, but has that earthiness you get with Syrah, along with some floral and anise notes mid-palate. Super smooth, it’s got toasty tannins, good balance and acidity, with the lovely fruit persisting into the long, smooth finish. I’m so sad this was our only bottle.
