October 21, 2023 - I've now had 6 of these over the last 5 years.
30 minute decant, could use more, but not significant difference..
This is one of the most "elegant" Contenders, and while it still has meat, funk and olive,, those are complementary flavors.
Really more floral, orange zest, and iron that sits on top of the funk, as opposed to the funk being primary. Raspberry, currant and blackberry mingle throughout, from the nose to the finish.
If you want the "big" Reynvaan, this is not it. But wow, the complexity and deftness deserve a toast. -

September 9, 2023 - Minnesota Valley Wine Group Syrah Tasting (Amy & Scott's - Eagan, MN): I have not had a lot of Reynvaan wines, so was looking forward to this tasting! I like the Rocks AVA, but was just not as enthused about this wine as others. It was good, but not great, IMO, and I liked other Reynvaan wines better (as well as some other Washington wines).
Nose showed dark and red fruit, some funk and some bacon fat. Palate showed red fruit, some earthy notes and some roasted meat. Overall, the palate came off a bit thin, and I liked the nose better than the palate. Nose - 93+; palate - 91...score 92+.1 person found this helpful Comment -

August 25, 2023 - Two hour decant, drinking beautifully. Typical rocks nose, the vigonier brings elegance to every sip. Paired with a beef bourgoine.

August 13, 2023 - Day 1: Stone, small berries, white pepper, floral, chalk and roasted meats. Medium plus finish and super complex wine. Outstanding from the best winery in Washington! 94 points
Day 1 Glass 2: Matchstick, white pepper, floral, roasted meats, blueberries, small berries and spice. Super complex wine and one guy gave this 87 which he is wrong! 94+ points
Day 2: Not as good as day 1 but super highly recommend this wine.
Recommendation: Buy it.1 person found this helpful Comment
