Community Tasting Notes 18

January 8, 2024 - Cork removed with a Durand, then poured into Grassl Crus. This was substantially quieter than the '08 we had earlier this week, showing little on the nose and palate. That said, this felt a 'cooler' expression of this cuvee than the '08. I'll plan to hold my remaining bottle.

    January 3, 2024 - -- decanted approx. 30 min. before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --

NOSE: perfumed; crystalline; red fruit --- red currant, sweet cranberry, and cherry; slight citric aspect; hint of "aged Pinot"; fruit comes across as ripe; quite pretty, and immensely pleasurable!

BODY: clear; ruby core with orange shades out to the edge; color is of medium-shallow depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: juicy; fruit is on the thinner side, at least initially; a bit autumnal / aged Pinot fruit; at least halfway to fully tertiary --- strikes me as being in its Prime Window, which for me is when a wine has one foot planted in maturity, with the other still hanging-out in "primary fruit" land; high acidity; autumnal spice; little bit of medium-fine drying tannin on the finish; slight little bitter note; 13.2% alc. well-hidden. Overall, really good ... red-fruited, with juicy acidity. Clearly aged, but not tired. For my preferences, this is best to Drink Now.

January 14, 2023 - This has moved to a terrific spot. Clear pure crystalline red cherry fruit with a fine mineral core. Man this showed fantastic elegance and poise. Quite bright and fresh. I think this is comfortably in it's drinking window though there's some firmness on the backend. I have 10 left from a case and will not be holding back starting now.

August 28, 2021 - After being open for almost two hours, this wine has very firm tannins and seems too early to drink. Notes of earth floor, raspberry and anise. I will wait on the next bottle, at least 1-2 years! Should definitely get better with time, as this is a quality Oregon Pinot.

Drank the rest of the bottle one night later, and it was far more approachable!

July 10, 2020 - This is starting to come around. Adds depth with air so keep that in mind. Clear, pure expression of cherry fruit. Has an element of tartness on the palate. Tannins still present adding a bit of bitterness on the finish. Palate is lean, fresh, focused. Just now opening up. Vibrant red color is another point of its youth. Drink or hold (best to hold).
