November 15, 2023 - Wow this is excellent! PnP for a few sips then waited an hour for the rest of the bottle. No decant. Incredible mouthful. Warm spices (clove). A bit of funk some red fruit. Incredibly well balanced. Purchased from WineBid.

June 2, 2023 - Strikes a nice balance between rich cherry, red plum and pear skin flavors, accented by savory notes of tobacco, tea leaf and black olive. Comes together seamlessly on a deftly built, velvety frame.

January 8, 2023 - Dark garnet, completely opaque, with just the slightest hint of amber. Powerful nose immediately on opening...plums, black cherries, mocha. really not much of the roasted meat aromas of their Milton-Freewater vineyards. Very viscous inside the glass. The flavors are deep, rich, and concentrated, but very round and balanced, with just a touch of heat. Nice long aftertaste, also slightly hot. This is one of their best wines, fully mature.

July 22, 2022 - Smoky nose with flavors of blackberry, wood smoke, mushroom. Pop of blueberry on the finish with some weak tea notes. Light-medium weight. Compact. One hour in, the smoke dissipates to a slight acrid note underpinning juicy fruit and providing balance.

July 31, 2021 - 2013 was a lighter year for Reynvaan syrahs but you'd never know it from this wine! Dark garnet, completely opaque, with just the slightest hint of amber.

April 3, 2021 - Five Syrah, blind (four WA, one OR), plus two Reynvaan non-blind: Not decanted. I like this a little less than the 2012 Reynvaan Stonessence tasted alongside, but it's still outstanding. Red and dark fruit on the nose. On the palate, it's a little funky, but has beautiful fruit. A nice little note that reminds me of the liquid you get from rehydrating dried porcini mushrooms. Long finish. Good now and in no sign of decline.

July 4, 2020 - Nice standard reynvaan syrah. Medium bodied. Drinkable now. Improved with decanting for one hour. Wife did not care for it explaining the lower score.

January 31, 2020 - From the first moment of opening it's fully alive, but does evolve substantially with the hours. Rich creamy red fruit, supple balanced palate, good complexity. The smokey nose contains distinct brett you'd expect to find in a Flanders Red Ale like Cuvee des Jacobins or Duchesse de Bourgogne. Long confectionery finish reminiscent of creme brulee and seared marshmallow that after some hours evolves towards smoked charcuterie.

Drinking well today, or could hold for a 8-10 years of bottle evolution. Cannot overstate how excellent the mouthfeel is here, it’s a masterclass.
