August 14, 2010 - Botrytized chardonnay from the Wachau. Weird. I love Bodenstein's wines, but this is wretched. Dump.

January 12, 2007 - Wines with dinner (Prager, Dauvissat, Bandol) (Chicago): This wine is definitely strange, but I don't think it's flawed. The nose is pungent and recalls overripe apples. There also seems to be some honeyed-botrytis character. The aromas improved over an evening and seemed more like very ripe (but not overripe) honeydew melon later on. The palate definitely shows signs of botrytis, with a broad lushness which however does not bring the wine out of balance; the acid is there to keep the palate fresh. The finish is long and slightly bitter, with some citrus pith flavor and minerality. The finish is the best part of this odd wine. Interesting, but I can't say if I liked it or not. More of a curiosity.

March 5, 2006 - Was intrigued and purchased a case of Prager. Something is rotten in Denmark, er Austria, and it's not typical corkage. I have now tried two bottles and this is simply undrinkable. It may be contaminated. The liquid in the remaining bottles is well below the foil, which indicates potential problems with the others. I plan to ask my retailer for a full refund. Be careful.
