November 17, 2023 - Not the best aged Stony I've had but still a fine wine. Drink now. Was best at room temp and after an hour open. Quite fragrant and a long finish but a bit disjointed in between. Nice honeycomb and hay flavors with some quince and brighter honey and citrus notes that are almost like cognac but not sweet nor oxidized. And its that flavor sits separately from the rest. Went very well with a lobster cream sauce in a seafood pasta. I'm thinking there is some bottle variation at this age and your mileage may vary

August 21, 2023 - This is holding up nicely at age 11. The very first aroma to jump out of the glass for me was an unexpected pungent passionfruit! This is followed by floral waves of gardenia and frangipani. Eventually it settles down into some honeycomb, quince, pear, and crème brulée notes.
It's an explosion of flavor on the palate with a really lively acidity still simmering right on the top of the structure. Finish leaves behind sort of a butterscotch caramel lingering aftertaste and I really enjoyed every drop of this bottle!
This wine is currently in its prime drinking window but I don't think there's any hurry. The aromas are still fresh and alive and the acid is still popping! I wouldn't be afraid to leave this alone for another 10 years, But you're certainly not going to regret opening it today. -

July 3, 2023 - A "very, very, very" good CA chardonnay -- as I described this to a reluctant friend over dinner last night (Melissa Clark's scallops sautéed in butter -- outstanding). Color a perfect straw gold, nose fragrantly Californian and a taste of nectar. I am particularly peeved that Stony Hill was recently sold and the price of a bottle of this gem has tripled to over $100!. I still have few bottles of the latest vintages (including a few of these). For inquiring minds -- quality storage is key.
