December 23, 2022 - Presented as a retirement gift for a friend - this was in great shape, graceful and mature. Cherry and cinnamon with a touch of tobacco and mushroom notes.

June 19, 2022 - ethereally fragrant nose and gentle on the palate with spicy cinnamon notes and well integrated wood. Just a little fruit left. Wish I had more, but drink up and drink within an hour of opening.

January 16, 2021 - Light colour reflecting its age. Not much on the nose and most of the fruit has faded so not a lot of life in this particular bottle.

June 28, 2020 - Slightly pale cherry red & clear. Straight away nose is lovely red fruits, vanilla, slightly spicy. Reminds me of a young tondonia in a way. A little Xmas spice. Very smooth, rounded, red fruits, mouth coating, a little raisin, spices, vanilla. Some sediment at the end. Still acid and tannins. Really good

November 30, 2019 - 12% alcohol. The wine actually doesn't say "Reserva" anywhere and the paper seal in the neck says "Rioja de Crianza".

Aged, translucent and rather pale reddish mahogany color with an almost colorless rim. Very tertiary and somewhat sweet-toned nose with quite oxidative aromas of raisins and syrupy sweetness, some bouillon, a little bit of beef jerky, light pungent notes of soy sauce and a touch of smoke. The wine is medium-bodied, silky and slightly sweet-toned on the palate with very tertiary flavors of salt-cured meat, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of dried cranberries, light salty notes of soy sauce, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of raisin. The fruit is starting to get rather thin and the structure is also giving up with the medium acidity and soft, fully resolved tannins. The persistent finish is very developed and tertiary with slightly oxidative flavors of ripe sour cherries, some salt-cured beef, a little bit of raisiny sweetness, light beef jerky tones, a hint of soy sauce and a touch of prunes.

Although going steaduily downhill, the wine is still somewhat enjoyable as it retains a little bit of fruit and it hasn't oxidized completely. However, compared to the bottle I tasted 2½ years earlier, this was in worse shape. I still must point out that compared to basically any other 1984 wine, this was in surprisingly enjoyable condition - apart from these Tondonias, I've noticed it's nigh impossible to find a 1984 wine that isn't completely dead.
