March 7, 2016 - Tasted at a restaurant and had to reject the wine. Both VA and oxidized, the cork was creased by worn corker jaws. Did not go for a second try as if one was creased there would be several and I hate risking rejecting a second bottle as I had rejected a badly corked glass of another Pinot while waiting for our guests two picky issues a night were enough. The manager was quite nice but ...

May 10, 2015 - Not a fan of effervescent red wines. Should only be reserved for whites.

January 18, 2015 - Open about 4 hours: 100% Johan Vineyard fruit in this one, meaning it's biodynamic and probably awesome. Ripe red fruits, earth and smoke on the nose. The wine is very quaffable with smooth texture and snappy acidity. The finish is long and tart. This is really good juice for the price. The Bow & Arrow Gamay noir is an absolute knockout QPR as well. I'm now a fan.

December 14, 2014 - Had at a dinner with friends.
Nose of florals, red raspberry, spice.
Palate of red berries, herb, earth, spice.
The finish was above average in length and good structure.
Overall the wine was really nice once it opened up, can't wait to try more from Scott.

October 26, 2014 - Opened one hour in advance. Aromas of chalk, flowers and dishwater. Flavors of berry fruit with chalk and mint notes. Subtle dill pickle flavors in the finish. Funkiness, firm acids, interesting flavors, a little complexity.

I'm glad I gave this some time. It was a stewy mess when first opened but with 20-30 minutes of air time everything resolved. This has definitely been dusted by the VA fairy, but for anyone who is not completely intolerant, the VA should add rather than subtract.

The style is very much European vin nature, even by "New" California standards.
