May 27, 2021 - 2 hour decant. Big nose of bell pepper that follows through to the palate. Plum and graphite on the back end. Not evolving the way I hoped it would.

November 18, 2020 - Dense dark cherry on the nose and palate with bell pepper. Mild tannins, a bit hot. Probably better with food.

December 21, 2017 - 90 minute decant. Black cherry, plum, cassis, black pepper, licorice, with smooth silky tannins. Leans more to elegance than power, although it has plenty of life ahead.

October 7, 2016 - Needs to age. Let it open up and best with food. For price there are other cabs I like better.

October 3, 2016 - This bottle was a gift. I have never had wine from Gamble Family Vineyards before. Popped and poured with dinner and consumed over 90 min. Clear dark garnet. Nose of blackberry, currant, cherry, and vanilla. Medium bodied palate of black cherry, black currant, spice, and vanilla. Very good length. A lingering note of black licorice on the finish. Refreshing acidity. Young sweet tannins. The oak is pretty light, but not fully integrated yet. Overall, I was surprised by the fact that this is valley floor Napa fruit, rather than fruit grown up on one of the mountains. It has the energy and acidity I usually associate with mountain fruit, rather than the silky, full, ripe, opulent fruit I expect from Oakville. I expect this excellent wine to be even better with a couple more years in the cellar.
