August 6, 2016 - This bottle showed very well in a tough pairing (pasta with chicken and artichoke hearts). Nice hose of fresh cut grass, bright citrus, and lychee. On the palate, very balanced with grapefruit, gooseberry, lime zest, and lychee. Long crisp finish. Drink or hold over the short term.
January 10, 2016 - This is just fantastic. I'm probably being a little stingy with a 92...I guess I'm holding back until I down another bottle of this...,.probably sooner rather than later.
October 4, 2015 - Top notch SB......Easy drinking
September 19, 2015 - Easy drinking. The bottle was crushed immediately at dinner party. Wish I had more
August 30, 2015 - Just a fantastic bottle! beautifully balanced.
August 1, 2015 - This stuff is just fantastic. Can't ask for much more from a young CA white. Easy drinking, yet packed with flavors and character. Had a Quivet sav blanc that Mike makes from the same vineyard the following night. While very good, not in the same class as this wine.
Don't think this is one to age; enjoy it now. Sad that this was my last bottle.
May 9, 2015 - Maybe a touch too much butter than I want in a SB, but still quite good. I mean, isn't everything better with butter, after all?
March 5, 2015 - And if anyone had doubt whether it can get better... IT CAN!
to be followed with detailed review over two nights, but I wonder if Mike, Matt and Amber cut a deal with the devil to make such good wine. Kicking myself for having only one bottle left, and going to send it to storage so that I can enjoy it few years from now. This one is built for the pure joy of life.
January 9, 2015 - 750ml; PnP; Appearance - did not check; Aromas of pineapple and grass; Flavors a bit masked out of the gate by oakiness. Once this started to settle down, flavors of pineapple, melon, lemons and mild grassiness; Fairly viscous (thick) for a SB which helps it linger on the palate a bit. Decent wine but I would pick a Quivet Tench Vineyard SV instead.
January 3, 2015 - Opened it in plan to drink it over two nights, and we ended up finishing it in one night (because it was so good). Nice citrus and floral on the nose). Well balanced. More on the dry side (though I wish it would have been slightly dryer). I would recommend to keep it chilled on the decanter (it does seem to fade a bit as the temp. increases.) I agree with the lychee notes posted before. In addition, I would note that it will goes great with veggies and light meats. Really good.
Steal QPR. Glad I have one or two more to enjoy towards late winter/spring. I do think it can hold longer than 2015, but why wait?
