Community Tasting Notes 8

September 14, 2019 - Strawberry and camphor on the nose. On the palate, raspberry, strawberry, and notes of savory herbs, flowers, and something citrusy on the medium finish, with no noticeable tannins and good acidity. This was an excellent value at a little over $20, and I wish I had bought a few more bottles at that price. The Cellartracker drinking window looks about right - this is ready to drink with some years still ahead of it.

January 13, 2016 - The Bouland Chirobles is as usual a bit more open for business than the Morgons in 2013, but I fear its modest price point is going to mean most of it is drunk up before it really reaches early maturity—which I'd project about five years down the line. The bouquet is more red-fruity than the Morgon cuvées, opening up with youthfully tart raspberry, griotte cherry, red plum and some smoky herbal tones. On the palate the wine is sappy, expansive and transparent, without the structural heft and mid-palate density of the Morgons, and very marked by its Chiroubles character. I have enough experience to know this is still pretty wrapped up in itself, and will really start to pop with a few more years in the cellar.

December 20, 2015 - Ether and camphor on the nose. On the palate, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, and a note of sour orange rind on the medium finish, with light tannins and strong acidity. This has grace rather than power; it's a beautiful wine, and it should improve for some years yet. Excellent value for the money.

November 9, 2015 - Light ruby red. Decanted 1.5 hours, drank over following 3 hours. Nose: moderate, delicate bouquet. Very pretty and floral. Ripe cherries, cedar. Orange and a touch of gasoline. Palate: integrated, grainy tannins. Well integrated, loads of texture and grip. Bright acidity. Cherries, bright citrus medley. Mushrooms, general green vegetal flavors. Cigarette tobacco. Anise and Juniper berry. Finish: acid drives the finish of citrus, Juniper and mushrooms. Overall a great value and complex.

September 7, 2015 - J : un peu fluet, très acide. Pas de plaisir
J+1 : le vin s'est équilibré, l'acidité est toujours là mais le vin est plaisant.

    A attendre.
