December 31, 2022 - Dark ripe fruits and black pepper. Penetrating bouquet. On the palate, it tastes a bit past prime to my palate. No flaws; it's just that I think it needs a nice chunk of fatty red meat and it would be great. Disclaimer: I don't drink a lot of Syrah and my palate tends towards younger Syrah.
May 28, 2021 - Unlike the last bottle, very enjoyable, especially at 9 years.
January 4, 2021 - Vinegar
October 9, 2020 - Spicy and tart, with a green fruit edge that’s typical in Ryan’s style. Nice, but not compelling.
May 25, 2019 - P&P. At 7 years old this Syrah is in a nice place. Love the freshness, little if any new wood I think gives an energizing thrust to fruit profile, which is mainly dark raspberry. Perhaps a bit more mid palate would have been nice, but small quibble, really nice wine.
November 23, 2018 - Started out pretty weak and disjointed on the pnp. After about an hour it did start to come together and gained some complexity with dark fruit, coffee.
October 11, 2018 - Not as great as I first remembered. A little thin and laxked complexity.
August 20, 2018 - Decent wine. I don't see this improving a whole lot more.
November 20, 2016 - Pnp and this wine drank great. Impressive integration of fruit throughout. A bit of smoke, tar and complexity and a touch of tannin on the finish. Very well made.
December 7, 2015 - Popped and poured. Shows plenty of ripe fruit but excellent balance from acidity and integrated tannins. Some secondary flavors of rock dust and dried herb, even a hint of green olive emerge in the glass. Smoky wood notes linger but never become obtrusive. An outstanding Washington syrah.
