December 1, 2014 - Popped and poured. Simple cherry aroma. Straight up and simple tart red fruit, with some chalk and spice, from beginning to end.

Good for what it is, which is a casual picnic style wine (as the crown cap might lead one to believe). Nice simple flavors with enough backbone and structure to make it a good partner for nice simple food. Glug, glug.

November 15, 2014 - Tart, sour, candied cranberry acidic swill. Like a bad beaujolais. Awful.

November 15, 2014 - Tastes like sour, candied cranberry acidic swill. Like a bad beaujolais. Awful. I can't believe Mathiasson would sell something like this. Why is this wine rated in the 80s here? Every reviewer so far hates it. 80s means good to excellent, people!

April 22, 2014 - I'm not a huge fan of the flavor of this wine, which has this cranberry juice cocktail twang to it, with a twist of pez candy. The tartness is turned way up, but it's not like I can marry these flavors with anything I'm eating. It's like one of those "little hug" fruit drinks I had as a kid.

April 6, 2014 - Unfortunately a bit more disappointing than the last bottle - I'm all for lightly bodied, acidic red wines, but the flavor is a bit artificial-tasting.

    March 16, 2014 - Pours a medium reddish purple.

The wine is blend of Aglianico, Montepulciano, and Barbera and comes in a 1L bottle and capped with a crown cap. On the palate it tastes grapey -- just grapey -- with no complexity and lacking in tannic structure. 12.5% abv. Does not do justice to the Mathiasson name. This might be a fun wine to have at a BBQ, but at $22 represents a poor QPR. Made to drink now.

March 2, 2014 - Fruit juice meets mouth-watering acidity meets alcohol. It's reminiscent of cranberry wine.
