August 11, 2023 - This is in a great place right now. I sourced this from the secondary market (along with a 2012) and it really shows what Roy’s bottles will taste like after 10+ years.

June 29, 2023 - This was delicious. More red than I was expecting- a great mix. Really settled down and drinking well.

July 10, 2022 - This is a late entry from a wine I drank 2 weeks ago, so the tasting notes are a little vague from memory, but it was a delicious wine that was firing on all cylinders. I decided to write the review, even though its a late entry, because it left such a lasting impression.

There was a good amount of sediment so I poured the wine into a decanter for approximately 60 minutes then poured the decanted wine back into the cleaned bottle. The wine was consumed out of Grassl 1855 stemware at 55-60 degrees. It showed best when it was slightly warmer than cellar temperature.

This was Roy's inagural release. I sourced it from Benchmark Wine and the condition appeared excellent. The fruit is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon from GIII but there is a little cabernet Franc from Dr. Crane.

The bouquet was beautiful with the melding of red and blue fruits with some herbal and spice notes. The palate matched the bouquet. There was medium(-) acidity and tannins, which where silky smooth. There was a great mouthfeel for this well balanced, complex medium to full bodied Cabernet.

This wine is in its prime drinking window and is a joy to drink. If you are one of the lucky few to have a bottle or 2, I hope you enjoy it as much I did.

    My score is a 95+.

February 5, 2022 - Based on Roy’s last video I decided PnP was the way to go. Red fruit dominate, delicious from the start. Paired perfectly with pouldeau (mud hen / water chicken) gumbo. Whooped ass over some stiff competition! Gives me pause about opening my other Pipers too early. Hats off to Roy on the 2010!

December 26, 2021 - Had this for Christmas dinner.. Popped and poured. Wine is very balanced with still some back bone to the wine. Leather undertones with vanilla showing through. Very well made.
