May 15, 2022 - Rich, deep fruits. Maybe a tad syrupy.

August 15, 2016 - Smoky, chocolate richness. Tart with blackberry. Some resinous sweetness, reminiscent of a Port mid-way through the palate. Subtle spices, black pepper. It's good, and a great value, but disappoints compared to Opolo's other offerings.

July 2, 2016 - Cherry and chocolate, velvety tannin. Good acidic and overall balance. Moderate to heavy bodied. I had this with home smoked baby back ribs but it might go even better with a home grilled ribeye.

April 29, 2016 - A gift from someone who said: "You like Rombauer, You'll love this".
Actually I'm not a big fan of Rombauer Zinfandel (too sweet), but my wife and her friends devour The Cougar Juice as soon as it's opened.
    This is a Rombauer-like over extracted high-RS, high-alcohol wine.
The sugars aren't enough to mask the burnt cherry nose. It's brambly and peppery like a good Amador Zin but dry and without weight. (unless you count sugar as weight)
It's not bad, and at $15 it's half of Rombauer's price, but it does feel like a cheap knock-off.
