September 25, 2020 - In a great place right now. rich in fruit and great balance!
December 30, 2019 - Excellent. This was the last 2011 in our cellar, sitting within a Ca di Pian vertical. We pulled it out over the holidays given the CT drinking window is now closed. PnP and drank among 4 people over 60-90 minute period. Still holding a great balance of fruit and earth, still plenty of life. I would say it could have been held for another 2-3 years from now.
October 12, 2019 - Good QPR Barbera. Medium body. Cherry and herbs. Well balanced. Easy to drink. Unidimensional.
February 25, 2018 - Ruby red. Open bq w cherry, tobacco, some spices. Rounded tannins, good acidity, nice fruit w sour cherries. Good balance, well made. Alcohol and dark berries in aftertaste. Nice wine, if slightly overpriced.
December 18, 2017 - Had it double aerated. Opened up immediately. Nice fruit flavor. Smooth finish.
October 18, 2017 - Apparently needed some time to integrate. It doesn't have the super brightness and does smell somewhat like tobacco. Wood tannin is so there I am being told. I'd say that needs to go!
May 11, 2017 - Big, dark and ripe on the nose, in a good way. Gorgio takes his Barbera extremely seriously. And that is rather darn good Barbera, if quite modern. And some structure on the back end. His belief it needs new and used oak. Under the oak influence it really blossoms. And sure, I get the message in this bottle.
The first vineyard purchased in Asti. Wild yeast fermented.
November 14, 2016 - A nice everyday drinker.
October 29, 2016 - Deep, dark ruby color with an immediate (surprising) floral nose. On the palate the dark fruits and chocolate came through with some licorice back. A much more medium bodied offering (as it looks like it would be a much heavier structure) with nice tannins that integrate well. Bionzo's relative to be sure.
October 10, 2016 - Great full bodied pop and pour. Brooding jammy dark fruit and sweet oak dominate. Some spice and heat on the finish. No real need to hold. Will make it strong for several more years.
