October 6, 2019 - Showing a bit of oxidation. Probably not going to improve much.

November 2, 2016 - Note: I use a rating scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

Drank over a period of a few days. This wine never lost a sharp edge. I know that Port can take a while to come around, but this wine is almost 20 years old, and still tastes way too young -- even after a few days open. I guess try later?

March 12, 2016 - Enjoyed this lovely vintage Port with friends - dark fruit dominates, sweet, smooth. It was consumed over the course of a week and did not "decline" over those seven (7) days.

December 31, 2013 - Baby-killing, but not a newborn. The tannins, by now, are just wonderful - silky, beautiful wonders. The nose is still hot with the 20% alcohol, but this declines with time in glass. If there really are 'colors' of fruit that we sense, then the nose is lighter, more red than the palate. Anise or red liqourice, cherries, with the Raisin King riding herd on them.

Then the palate weighs in with an impressive depth of fruit. And now we go deep - red, purple, black. There are spices and - hints of caramel and toasted nut flavors that will come to the fore, hopefully, in the fullness of time. But the deal right now is the fruit, and it's a big one. On the palate and finish, the alcohol is nicely integrated and while it warms the finish, it's not a bad thing, and along with a spicy dark anise quality, lasts a long time.

August 19, 2006 - Not Decanted- Dark, dark purple; heady nose of sweet raisins, spiced plums, licorice, and black fruits; palate with decadent round plum and blackberry flavors; full bodied with sweet, supple tannins; long polished finish, >30 sec. Delicious!
