April 6, 2011 - Very pleasant, and surprisingly complex. Medium-bodied on the palate, still with a good dose of acidity that requires 30 minutes of air to settle down. When it does, the palate shows dark fruit, eucalyptus, something similar to stems and a hint of smoke. Finish is deceptively long given the high tones on the palate. Nice QPR, performing over its pay grade as a mid-week, burger pairing.

December 11, 2009 - Some note worthy characters. Tannic and dry after 1 hr of decant. There is no sweetness here, very spicy, Gamey and licorice. Filtration/decanting is needed.

December 21, 2008 - Opened this a day or two ago, and didn't care for it at all. Tight and unyielding. Now, it's quite a different story. Hard for me to place the nose, other than to say it seems to be dominated by the Shiraz. Dark fruit and sweet wood, with a hint of game, eucalyptus and sour cannabis. The palate if medium heavy, with what has become a quite long finish. Gets better and fuller with time, shedding the bit of sour in favor of a rich chocolate presence.

September 21, 2008 - In the bouquet black cherries and half ripe blackberries. Quite full bodied and good acidity and bitterness. The label says French as well as American oak was used, but you mainly taste the American oak. The wine is fresh, but the fruits give just a very little boiled impression. It is certainly a good wine. Nothing negative to think of. Everything is present. The problem is that it is not really exiting. It is so fat and round that it lacks real finesse.

November 24, 2007 - Did not get to assess this one. This bottled followed 2005 Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz - Viognier. Guest polled for perference chose the Yalumba in the majority. However, I perferred the former because this wine was comparatively over powering. Perhaps if the order was reversed, I may have chosen differently. May try again if the vintage is still available.

September 29, 2007 - Mocha, just a little too much oak for my taste. Great masses of fruit. Slightly fat but then the acid comes out in the dryish finish. Drinking nicely now.
