May 2, 2020 - Today I finally got to try a bottle of La Rioja Alta's venture in Ribera del Duero, Finca El Otero. The wine was dark ruby in colour und offered ripe red and dark berries, dark cherry, blood orange, coffee, dark chocolate, spices, vanilla, clove, liquorice and mineral notes on the nose and palate, with medium-level acidity, fine, firm tannin and good length of the dark chocolate bitter finish. The medium-bodied wine was ripe yet firm, and fairly smooth and balanced in the context of its youth. It was riper than La Rioja Alta's Riojas, but showed the same firmness the 904 Grand Reserva typically has in its youth. The wine still seemed to be holding back despite of extended aeration and I will hold my other bottles for at least five years, preferably ten years.

April 24, 2020 - Excellent wine. Silky smooth. Some strawberry notes. Very well balanced. Too bad had just 1 bottle

November 1, 2019 - Fully developed with hints of rubber, vanilla, strawberry and tobacco. Velvetly feel. Tannins are softer than the previous bottle I drank some years ago. Now at peak? It will still develop but was excellent today!

August 7, 2017 - This wine was absolutely lovely. It felt dry and tannic yet, went down smooth like oil. Windeeful aftertaste. Im upset that i didnt get a case

May 4, 2017 - Objectively, this is a good and well-made wine but it just don't appeal to me. On the verge of being boring, this is big fruit, sweet tannins, burned rubber and sweet vanilla oak. Almost New Worldy and quite fankly, yawn... Too expensive for a wine in this category.
