February 20, 2021 - Another lockdown dinner (LBH): From magnum. Big, buttery, oaky and ripe. Enjoyed. With courgette and feta soup.
February 4, 2021 - Upon opening, on the nose, there is a lot of ripe stone fruit and grapefruit. This felt quite rich right off the bat. The color is a tad golden, but frankly, not as much as I would have expected for this eight year old wine. Medium viscosity. On the palate, some spiciness - the small amount of oak seems to be noticeable. Medium plus body. This felt a tad hot to me. Oily mouthfeel (good way). Length is quite long but a little one-note to me. More grapefruit than anything else here. Not much else here. I am not sure about this wine...perhaps it is in a closed phase? I have one more of these and will let it sit in the cellar.
January 23, 2021 - golden...very nice light tropical and slight butter. very linear, bright and tight on palate. Guava/Papaya. subdued pink grapefruit.
hour 3 more Oak, Butterscotch Vanilla.
November 10, 2020 - Lovely nose with some earthiness and pink grapefruit. The grapefruit really comes in on the palate as well. I'm a fan of oakey chardonnay's and there is no sign of oak in this so some of you might like this much more than I.
August 31, 2020 - A Masterchef-worthy Back To School Dinner with friends (C&L, F&R): From magnum. Chosen over the 2013 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières as potentially a better match for the creamy-spicy chicken curry. Was indeed an excellent match. Rich, ripe, soft on the finish. A pleasure.
July 25, 2020 - Deep core of ripe fruit, apple, pear. Hints of vanilla and oak. Not OTTT. Nice drinking for this style
May 22, 2020 - Probably one of my favorite vintages of Golden Slope. The nose is low to moderate intensity, great balance and richness on the palate, fair acidity, some development but by no means is there a rush to drink. This wine leans a bit ripe/tropical and has seen some oak so slightly more new world profile but very nicely made wine.
November 10, 2019 - Not good. Admittedly my chardonnay experiences is mostly Burgundy, and I drink mostly Chablis these days, but to me this is pretty much the opposite of that. No acidity. Just flabby white fruit and some butterscotch/caramel notes probably from oak. Not my style.
September 12, 2019 - Apple, white peach and dried honey tones. Excellent richness and depth.
April 5, 2019 - Drinking well, buttery balanced.
