Community Tasting Notes 8

February 2, 2024 - More balance between the fruit and the spice and the floral here. More restrained. It’s perhaps a touch more closed than some others but I really like the stuffing of this wine. In the under appreciated flight and I can understand that.

July 16, 2021 - Unfortunately the nose shutdown a bit. Quite complex on palate. Consumed in restaurant and should have given it more time to open up. Will try again in 4-5 years.

June 12, 2018 - Barrel and Bottle Tasting with Luca Roagna (Roagna Winery): The nose showed crushed strawberry with marine inspired minerals, sweet florals, and dusty spices. On the palate, I found a remarkably fresh expression with strawberry, cedar and spice, as inner florals completed the experience. It was remarkably pretty, savory and mineral-laden all at the same time. The finish was long, zesty yet saturating with fine tannin…lasting LONG. With each sip, the 2005 seemed to glide across the palate with grace. What a beautiful and understated wine.

May 13, 2018 - Dinner with friends in the Langhe

    Served blind

Roses and tar. Dense and very deep yet coming across as mid weighted. Very intense, yet equally elegant. Terrific perfume. Iron fist in a velvet glove Langhe style. Cherry fruit, rhubarb, very perfumed on the back end. Very long, terribly well balanced effortless wine. I used to buy this wine happily, until it went stratospheric in price. A wonderful wine nonetheless.
