January 6, 2024 - Wine Bros: A Study of Syrah (Cowford Chophouse): Not often we get to drink these side by side so fun to do and see the differences across the wines. This has the most viognier and as a result as always it comes across as a bit more elegant and soft compared to the others. Drinking quite nicely and often competes with Turque for me for my favorite (really depends on the mood).

May 24, 2023 - Texas BBQ and La Las Dinner at Marc's House (Marc's House): Double decanted for 4 hours before serving. More earthy and smoky meat notes than the ‘98 La Mouline we had by its side. Definitely felt the age on this one but it’s still drinking very well.

March 29, 2023 - Probably at plateau although will hold for some years. Fruit melange, blood and sweat, garrique. Almost southern rhonish with a bit of flower, but attractive nose. Pretty and changing nose but will need air. Double decant and breathe it for some hours. Palate has smooth tannin that has largely been resolved. Drunk beside the 2001.

January 19, 2023 - Nose: smoked meat, hints of roast coffee, violet, black fruits, forest, blackcurrant, vanilla
Notes: La Mouline is my favorite one out the the la la la trip. I've had the chance to sample the 96 many years ago and this time it showed much better than before. I am a little surprised (and a nice surprise it is) that the wine opened up so quickly with 20-30 minutes of decanting. It had quite a sweet and ripe palate towards the end whichi would say is quite atypical of La Mouline. It would be fair to say that this wine can continue to be consumed comfortably for another 10-12 years without any problem while it's perfectly fine to drink now with just a fair amount of breathing. A serious and good effort coming from a mediocre vintage of the region.
