June 22, 2020 - We gave this bottle 6 hours of air before serving. Candied fruit, spicebox, red currant and violets. Palate was slightly lean for a Griottes which probably showed the vintage. It improved in the glass but still underwhelming for the pedigree. Interesting to follow this but I doubt it will surprise me on the upside.

January 29, 2016 - Lunch with 2012 and 2013 Fourrier CSJ and Griotte, 95 Raveneau Blanchot, 05 Leflaive Chevalier and more (Black Salt, Washington DC): Drank blind alongside the 2012. As with the Clos St. Jacques I found this wine very difficult to asses at this stage of development. Yes, you can sense the overall quality and refinement in the wine. At the moment acids overshadow the fruit and mineral elements that lie underneath. I'm sure this wine will come together in time but I'd let these mature and evolve right now.

October 28, 2014 - A 2013 Barrel Tasting at Domaine Fourrier (Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy): The Griotte vines are planted on chalky soil. Very bright colour. Once you get past the malo-influenced reduction, this is incredibly aromatically complex, showing a full peacock's tail. Very pure, energetic and persistent fruit on palate. Complex and multi-layered flavours, including red and black fruit, minerals on the mid palate and a citric element. Superb matière. Structurally very different from the CSJ, less imposing, more refined. Very long. A top quality Grand Cru.
