  May 19, 2023 - Slow oxed for 8 hours. Deep garnet with a hint of fading and bricking at the rim. The nose was quite different upon opening vs 8 hours later. Upon opening, this had fresh cassis, blackberry, vanilla, and complex vegetable notes. 8 hours later the nose was much more old world in style; graphite, gravel, dry earth, cigar box, along with much more restrained black fruits and some pyrazine. The palate was medium bodied and very earthy and mineral-y in character, with restrained black fruits on the midpalate and a finish quite high in acid and tannin. At this point, the wine was a bit out of balance with the rough tannins on the finish overpowering the otherwise elegant palate. While clearly a very quality wine, this is no where near its drinking window even after 8 hours of air. Would love to try this again in 5-10 years. A very restrained and bdx style single vineyard napa cab and so very different than many other ripe, fruit forward, and flabby napa cabs at similar prices. Drink 2030-2050.

  May 18, 2023 - Served blind. I called left bank BDX 2000 or 2005, maybe pessac leognan.
  
  Nose was so much cigar box, dusty leathery earth, dried cherry, gravel. Palate was initially quite austere and all terroir but some dried darker cherry started to emerge as well as blackberry and darker plum. The fruit played second fiddle to the cigar box, gravelly, leathery notes on this wine. Structure is absolutely massive. Tannins are pounding away with ample acidity to support. Finish is long and shows off the massive structure.
  
  Really enjoyed this but think it’s prime drinking window is still a good 5-10 years out. This was double decanted for 8+ hours and still was just barely showing. Very promising future ahead.
  
  HOLD for another 5 years. If drinking now, decant for 2h then go back to bottle for another 12h. 95 with upside.
