February 28, 2021 - A nice mix of fruit here. Aromas ranging from crushed raspberry, leathery blackberry, and black plum skin to licorice root, cola, wild violets and ground allspice. This is still a brute of a wine, with an inky purple color, tons of extract and acid and tannin that are through the roof. Usually not my style but this is very good. The fruit is pure and linear on the palate, with nice complexity throughout, including further notes of roasted applewood and brown sugar. A little lactic and a little hot and spicy on the back end but delicious all the same. The first Petite sirah that has actually impressed me. From the 10- acre Thomann Station Vineyard in St. Helena.

October 15, 2019 - Wow, this is a dark brooding port-like red. It is rich with dark berries, asphalt, dark cocoa, and a hint of caramel. It isn’t too oaky.
I had left the bottle upright for two weeks, and now inside of the bottle is stained black, so it looks like the bottle is still full. I have never seen anything like this before.

February 13, 2019 - Dark, dark purple and dry as a bone. Delicious tannins. I want to say berry flavors that are under-ripe yet not greenish; and a little spice.

October 27, 2015 - A richly extracted purple color. Dark aromas of plum sauce, roasted figs, cocoa powder and vanilla. Full and so rich on the palate, plenty of tannic structure but they’re not abrasive, and the acid is a bit low. But the fruit tastes complex and high-quality (juicy boysenberry, wild blackberries and dark plums. Flavors of coffee, cocoa powder, pepper glaze and vanilla. Definitely worth putting this down for a handful of years and checking up on it. 100% Petite Sirah Aged in mostly new French oak (with some new American oak) for 16 months.

July 18, 2015 - Blueberries, bosenberry, plum, chocolate on the nose. Chocolate, cooking spices, blackberry on the palate. Finish goes on for a good 30 seconds. Tannins are evident and oak is well blended.
