March 23, 2022 - My last of the “Christmas Cuvée.” PnP, this continues to drink well for my palate. Savory Rocks notes, fruit definitely I the background. My last note on these from 2018 said they would last another 3-5 years, and this final bottle seems to support it. Drink up now.
December 22, 2018 - Fruit almost gone. Funk omnipresent. I would say, drink by this Christmas. Especially if you have NV from full pull.
December 15, 2018 - Recotte’s recent summary is spot on. Lots of funky tar, olive, brine, and dark fruit balanced by good acidity and soft tannins. Holding up very well and could certainly last until next Christmas. 4+11+16+8= 89
October 16, 2018 - This has held up well as a baby-Reynvaan. Olives, brine and Rocks funk continue to be evident. Good on PnP, held up fine overnight for day 2. This will easily hold on for another 3-5 years, but nothing wrong with drinking up now.
January 10, 2017 - Minerals and liquid strawberry and cherry with deliciously subdued subterranean funk and a long finish. Drank well right after opening. Bottle was purchased 11/14.
December 23, 2016 - 'Tis the season to try this one again. Bright, medium ruby-pink color with heavy legs and no sediment. It still has a massive mulberry, fig, dark toasted oak, and frying pan fond aroma. Palate is not quite as clunky as a year ago but continues to push the limit as far as oak and concentration of fruit. I sense more minerality and less of a candied glaze now, which is nice. Pretty distinctive and I also can relate to the Cayuse-like comparison mentioned in some other reviews. It doesn't have that kind of class, depth, or persistence, but the funky rocks profile shows prominently. It will be interesting to try again next year. 4+12+15+7= 88
November 21, 2016 - Funky rocks aroma and initial mineraly taste. Smooths out with notes of meat, smoke. Decanted 1 hr.
October 14, 2016 - Popped and lured for the usual experience. I like it. It is always better with 24 hours of air though.
July 24, 2016 - I like the other ones better.
April 14, 2016 - Past bottles have had more of the funk I like, but still easily identifiable as a WA wine.
