Community Tasting Notes 5

November 10, 2010 - Oddly muddy, flavors weren't distinctive. Decanted for an hour or more, drinkable but I expected more.

December 9, 2008 - Too much food and too many wines to give this an honest note and/or score. Quality wine, though, and considering it was a gift I can't complain about the price! Can easily hold for a few more years if you're so inclined.

October 1, 2008 - Kind of torn on this. Aromas of red and purple fruits, with understated red and purple fruit flavors (plums, sour cherries), a bit of acidity, and a touch of vanilla. Lighter than I expected (= elegant?), but a tremendous midpalate and long, long finish with firm tannins, herbs and cherries. Much, much better after a couple hours of decanting and food. Still, a bit disappointing for the price.

June 27, 2008 - Yum! The nose is worth the price of admission. I'm so glad I sat on this one for a few years... but now I have no more. Vanilla, oak, perfume and herbs on the nose. Quite complex with a little lead pencil shavings, blackberries, chalkiness and tartness. The finish goes on and on. Great wine.

March 23, 2007 - With 2003 (and 2002) being such a great year for Washington wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, it came as a real surprise that this Fidelitas Cab. was a dissappointment. Tasted right after opening and again at regular intervals up to 4 hours after opening with no improvement at any point. On the palate: some red fruits but not a lot. Color was good (nice deep rudy), bouquet was light. Found that there was a chemical-like aftertaste in what was an otherwise short finish (my wife likened it to asbestos).
