January 21, 2024 - This was very good; certainly did well this vintage; the nose was lovely with red fruit, spice, orange peel, fresh floral notes, and just a hint of game. The palate has pretty good stuffing for a village level and good balance though if anything leans a bit rustic. The structure pokes out a bit without food, but it is still overall quite nice. That said the current auction price for this is kind of silly.

September 22, 2023 - Casual Friday Lunch (Langdon Hall, Cambridge, ON): This pours medium to light ruby in the glass. The nose unfurls nicely over the course of the two hours it was followed showing cherry, loamy earth, hazelnut, green bean, and cocoa powder. The palate is nicely textured showing cherry on entry, with medium tannin and medium plus acid, on a finish that replays a touch of green bean character. While this is a nice young bottle of red burgundy from Roumier, and is offering quite an open drinking experience, I did find the green notes a little distracting at this particular point in time.

September 4, 2023 - Opened in Hong Kong. Slow-oxed for an hour before enjoying over a long lazy evening.

This was my third time having this wine, and interestingly each time was different. Classic Roumier nose - sweet mix of red and darker fruits - but this was the most 'meaty' and structured of the bottles, only slowly loosening up as we enjoyed it.

When compared to the Mugnier CM '14 that we had alongside it, this was darker and more structured on the palate. More forthcoming in the nose, but had less levels of evolution as well throughout. Votes were split between the two (mine went to the Mugnier) but two wonderful wines and always a treat to enjoy wines from two incredible Domaines.

I'd be keen to see how this evolves, given my inconsistent (if still good) experiences so far. May loosen up with another few years and be more expressive, so would probably revisit in 3 years? If you can't wait though, this is drinking well now so don't feel guilty for enjoying!

June 20, 2023 - 10/13 side-by-side. While the 2010 was gorgeous from the get go, the 2013 took some time to open up. When it did it had gorgeous and red and black cherry with so much florals. Seamless. Very impressive village wine and 2013.

April 26, 2023 - Translucent but with a certain density, slight brick red appearance. Nose of cherry and vanilla leaps from the glass, sweet floral notes - graceful aroma typical of Chambolle. Medium bodied, sweet, very supple. In a perfect spot. First of 3 bottles bought en primeur from the Wine Society. Definitely ready with potential to run further. Great standard for village wine - my first dance with Roumier…
