January 19, 2024 - The '13 Bonnes Mares is a very attractive young wine that was quite drinkable already, showing a beautiful perfume of exotic fruit and a very refined texture. Next to the '15 BM, this was much more open and ready to drink, while the '15 was more concentrated for the long haul.

The nose was very perfumed and exotic, with fresh citrus and other tropical fruits like passionfruit, sweet red forals, and red berry fruit. This was very fruit forward, and the fruit tones were unlike any of the other wines tasted, with the exotic, tropical fruit tones more so than typical red berry fruit. On the palate, the wine was medium to light in body, with red berry fruit, citrus peel, and spices, showing beautiful inner sweetness. Acidity was high, while the tannins were very refined. This has a lot of energy, and it's very drinkable already.

All that said, I don't see a lot of complexity here for future aging. My sense is this is a bottle best admired over the next few years while the fruit is so radiant.

January 19, 2024 - Tasted the 2015 and 2013 together. Both had about 3 hours of air. Apparently the '15 was more expressive at open, but by the time it came around in the meal it had shut back down. The '13 on the other hand was much more expressive; not fully open but accessible and pure. Continued to put on density as the time went on with hints of blood tomato to become quite deep and brooding. Can definitely use more time, but you won't be disappointed now either if you like stuff on the younger as it was great. The '15 struggled to open back up but it felt denser than the '13, perhaps signs of what's to come after a long slumber?

December 20, 2023 - Mostly closed, yielding very little in the bouquet, coiled so tight… on the tongue the juice spherical, flavor elements all primary and veiled. As is typical with a roumier bonnes mares, you can literally sense the potential over the course of 4hr dinner at Jungsik. A glimpse of flowers and cherry fruit after an aggressive swirl in the zalto burg. Alas, the next sniff and sip, showing very little. Albert, the BYOer, claimed he shouldnt open another one for another decade. I would agree with that. Glad to have visited on this though; the potential is real.

November 30, 2023 - Reference level Burgundy -- just oozing elegance, with exceptional purity and balance. Clearly young, I probably would have guessed this was many years younger than it actually is -- but it's so weightless and clean that there's already plenty to love here.

December 2, 2022 - Relatively expressive already with juiciness alongside structure.
