July 17, 2022 - Two hours breathing in the decanter. The wine and cork in good condition. The wine was big and monolithic. Not nuanced or elegant. It stayed that way all through dinner. We saved half the bottle for the next day and it stayed big monolithic and lacking any nuance. Not my cup of tea

August 29, 2020 - Celebrating a couple of birthdays with family. Ordered Italian takeout from Little Star in Albany, so I decided to open 2 nice Italian wines (had this along side a 1999 Ciacci Piccolomini Brunello). Decanted two hours before serving. Bright red in color. Red roses on the nose. Dark cherries, chocolate and red licorice on the palate. Flamboyant with many complexities in the background, Tastes young. Excellent finish. Will likely remain superb for a number of years.

April 8, 2019 - Bro-Rolo's 2019 Masters Bro-down (ft. Tiger Woods & Ja Rule); 4/8/2019-4/14/2019 (Augusta, GA): Ahhh yes...another Masters week...Bro-rolo's fave time o' year...like Christmas in April...stepping through those pearly white gates for the first time every year...baby birds chirpin...the crisp snap of a perfectly struck 7-iron...makes you feel the need to kick off the week with the same level of prestige as a smooth swinging Francesco Molinari...a smooth swining Italian means a Scavino Canoob...yes yes...that will do just fine! SALUTI!

October 29, 2018 - Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): This comes off a little clunky next to the really silky 1998 Sandrone Vigne. The earth elements are more prominent here, but the oak shows a little more graininess and manifests a slight bitterness on the back end. This doesn't show the ripeness of the vintage, or at least, it's well-handled. The tannins here are still fairly coarse and will need more time to soften.

February 3, 2018 - I get notes...notes of red dust...hints of exhaust, likely from a '88 Fiat...also tobacco...but not like tobacco leaves, but like a half-smoked unfiltered cigarette from an ash tray outside a bar at 2 a.m. in Milan.

Clearly ready to drink...have at it friends!

October 14, 2017 - 95 2 hour decant. Classic, rustic Barolo. On the nose-sous bois, dried flowers and caramel. Med/light weight palate with layers of dark cherry and black fruits with a killer finish Outstanding bottle. Purchased in 2005, Worth the wait.
