May 19, 2023 - Popped and poured. Rich aroma of black fruit and spices. Gentle flavors of boysenberry and bacon. Lingering, soft finish with elements of cherry, and garden herbs with a bit of bramble. Seem fully mature, but no sign of decline and drinking beautifully.

January 22, 2023 - Last of our 2010's. Consumed over 2 days. A little gritty but stick kicking. Love the black pepper, cured meats aspect with black fruits.

November 6, 2021 - Weekend wine and is still drinking well. Savory herbs, olive juice, blackberry, pepper and cured meats. Last couple of bottles have lacked some of the savoriness and really appreciated it was back. One more and will try to drink over the next 2 years or so.

June 25, 2021 - Showing my black fruit than savory components (they are still there but in the background). Nicely integrated and will hold up for a few more years.

June 22, 2021 - It was a cool night in the Midwest, so I popped this with friends to have over the fire pit. My last bottle, and it still has room to go. Drink through 2024.

June 5, 2021 - Subtle campfire and dark deep blackberry on the nose. Lovely weight, with black pepper, tart blueberry and a finish that balanced fruit and savory notes. I can see the wood a bit but it is well integrated. Really drinking nicely. Should last a good many years. The flavors will mellow but not sure that more will emerge. Crazy good qpr.

June 2, 2021 - Interesting color showing some brick around the edges yet still dark and opaque. Pure fresh blackberries and wood on the nose. Fresh yet still rich palate. I'd say this one is in a window. It will last but the acidity is beginning to show some tartness. The wood is overt but I don't think it's going to integrate any better at this point. Something of an older school wine. Enjoyed.

NOSE: ripe, crushed blackberries and raspberries; lightly smoky, with hints of fennel seed and peppercorns; a touch fumey (labelled at 13.6% abv.)

BODY: garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium-full to full bodied.

TASTE: ripe; some meaty smokiness; medium+ acidity; a touch warm from the alc., but not enough for me to find it problematic; still quite young; built to age. Gut impression score: 90 - 91.
