March 3, 2023 - Drinking well but may have reached its peak. Dark fruit, vanilla, a little earthiness, and velvety tannins. Well-balanced with a nice finish.

April 30, 2021 - Dark purple color with a nose that is fragrant and appealing. On the palate, bold dark berry fruit profile, black berry, blueberry, black cherry, currants and firm tannins. A decent wine that shows better with a long decant or slow ox. A Paul Hobbs collaboration. 90-91 points.

July 16, 2019 - Decanted for 90 minutes. Dark purple in color with aromas of cedar and black fruit. Ready to drink, this was the best of the three I owned. Complex flavors of plum, black cherries, cassis and a unique minerality that is Paul Hobbs’ style ( in my view). Some acidity and tannins to make the finish long-lasting.

June 23, 2018 - Typical of Black Cordon, dark, dark fruit. Pulled a glass on day one, corked, and returned day two. This wine should have a 2-4 hour decant at this time. Nose of black cherry and a bit of heat. Dark cherries with a hint of green pepper on the palate. The finish seems to go on for minutes. This is a wine I am glad I found years ago as it never disappoints.

June 16, 2018 - This one is almost there i terms of being ready to drink. Decanted 4 hours and it was really good. Another two years will do it some good.

September 2, 2017 - Once it was decanted for 20+ hours, it was very nice. Started tight after initial decanting.

July 29, 2017 - Purchased these about two years ago, with the first of 2 going down tonight. This wine poured a dark maroon with a purple tint. The wine has a lot of youthful inky fruit. The opening was a little more elegant, but this wine overall was a monsterously dense and thick wine. Entry of blackberry pie and oregano, cinnamon sweetness in the middle. Chalky and youthful fruit. There is a hint of black licorice towards the finish. Some olive towards the back. Finishes a little tannic even at 3 hours post double decant, which was definitely needed here (and still could have used all night to open!). This wine has a lot going on, and will continue to develop for the next 5-7 years.

July 1, 2017 - Quick 30 minute decant on the class. Deep red to purple. Nose of black cherry, wild flowers and alcohol. Taste is similar. Medium to heavy bodied. Pretty high acidity and medium tannins. Good balance. Nice Napa cab that hits the right notes but is otherwise pretty indistinguishable from many other good Napa cabs. 91-92.
