August 6, 2023 - Brick red rim and body, translucent. Well past its recommended drinking date, but still very enjoyable. Dry and light, lingering fruit. Best drunk younger, but still easy drinking, with or without food.

November 6, 2022 - Lasting surprisingly well. Dark centre, hint of orange at the rim, light sediment. Medium weight, fruit and spice emerged properly four hours after opening. Very enjoyable, but starting to dry out on the finish. Good with roast chicken and then with cheddar. Drink up.

September 27, 2020 - I think we are the only ones still posting on this vintage. Good colour, good fruit and spice during decanting. My wife loved it from first taste (after 3h) but I took longer to get the best out of it and, again, I was disappointed at first and feared that my senses were impaired. After 5h, my reaction began to echo my last note of 2 years ago - it had lost its 'rough edges', excess tannins and acidity, and was much softer and more attractive with excellent rich fruit and complexity, spice, and fine balance. A good partner to roast pork with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce etc.. At this age, I think it is a much finer wine than most earlier tasters have found. If you do have any left, give it a few hours to come round. Last bottle, sadly.

March 4, 2018 - As with previous bottles, not impressive when first opened showing dry tannins and recessed fruit. Decanted and tasted after 4h by which time it was showing its character and quality. Deep colour, still with only a little browning at the edge. The nose gradually developed real complexity with fragrant spice and dark fruits. The palate showed rich soft dark fruits - plums, cherries - with rich spice (cinnamon), good balance and length.
A massive transformation over a few hours yielded a really attractive wine. Soft and mature but with enough gentle tannin to handle grilled steak very well.
If I had judged this wine on first impressions after opening I would have been very disappointed and suggested that it was going over. It is most certainly not - it is at least as good as earlier bottles. Punching above its weight IMO in terms of reputation and vintage (I believe 2004 is much better than first thought and this wine has more spice and complexity than I have tasted for ages in a Cru Bourgeois). It has life ahead of it. Just give it time after opening. I have raised my rating slightly.

July 22, 2017 - Spicy, dark berries, still quite ok, but already declining - sour notes start to get in.
