Prior bottles had needed a lot of air to shed a hard edge. This one had a velvet touch from the start, deep black fruit and the barest hint of a leathery note on the finish. Structure and fruit are in harmony, so this might have a long evolution, especially without the wild card of a cork.

  September 3, 2018 - Beautifully pure and balanced with a spicy kick. Perhaps lacks the depth of some of the other recent vintages of this, but this was delightful.

  April 29, 2018 - Decanted ~1 1/2 hours, consumed over ~1 1/2 hours. A little shy compared to the last bottle on the nose and mid-palate, but still showing spicy, savory dark red fruit with ample acidity and lovely balance. Another winner.
