Community Tasting Notes 5

  • ChrisCummings86 Does not like this wine: 79 points

    December 5, 2017 - Pasaeli K2 CS70CF20 Izmir, Turkey
    2011 tasted 11/17
Musty dark nose, lots of oak, some faint green/menthol maybe from the cab franc. Not very attractive overall. Palate is way too much on the oak, it's everywhere, and oddly integrated as the wine has this espresso bitterness to the finish. Decanted 2hr..
Nothing palatable. Day 2 wine still way over oaked, weird tannins, bitter finish.
I really wanted to like this wine, but even the 11 needs way more time. I don't understand this palate, I shared it with some people too they disliked it. 75-80 pt effort.

I'd love to know why I'm wrong. Are people tasting this bitter tannin stuff goin on? Is this intended? Is this meant to age 10 years?

May 23, 2015 - It is bodied red wine which has dark red color . High tannins (maybe excessive) makes you feel bitter on the mouth. Aromas are hiding behind this bitterness, they are hardly recognised. Oak aged is very successful. It is just enough to make the wine rich without dominating fruity aromas.

March 23, 2015 - Mor rofle veren derin yakut renkte, opak. Burunda biraz volatilite hissediliyor. Baskin siyah meyve aromalarina geriden baharatsi tonlar eslik ediyor.

July 5, 2014 - Tasted as part of the annual Şarap Tutkunları tasting in İzmir where I was one of the guests along with Aslı Odman as well as the members of the tasting circle; İsa Bal MS, Ayhan Güleyen, İlker Özdemir and Arif Öncü. The following note and the relevant score belongs to me only.
Dark ruby with intense aromas of ripe mulberry, blackberry and black cherry along with vanilla and spice. Bold and plump with a sweet palate yet reasonably balanced with velvety tannins that are slightly drying on the aftertaste.
